Pouppeville is one of the small Normandy villages on the way inland from the beaches. Sited near the mouth of the Douve River, Pouppeville lies at the most southern of the Utah beach exits (exit #1). On Operation Overlord seizing that exit was task of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, the "Screaming Eagles".
Due to the scattered drops of the airborne forces Pouppeville was actually engaged by two different paratrooper forces - the 1st and the 3d Battalion of 501st PIR. The assembly of the 3d Battailion was quicker and they reached the village way before the arrival of the 1st. After assembling at Hiesville Colonel Ewell from 3d Battalion took a mixed force of men from line companies and headquarters staff to Pouppeville in order to to clear the town and secure beach exit #1.
Setting out at about 0600 he reached the town's perimeter by 0900, meeting only undetermined resistance from German defenders.
The village was held by roughly 70 men from 1058th Grenadier Regiment, 91st Division. Although outnumbered the paras were able to finally seize the village after intense fighting at close quarters. By noon the German commander surrendered and the remaining defenders fled towards the beaches. The retreating Germans were trapped between the village and the advancing 4th Infantry Division which moved inland from Utah Beach.
It was at Pouppeville, that Lt. Col. Carlton O. MacNeely (2d Battalion, 8th Infantry) and Colonel Ewell established first contact between seaborne and airborne elements of the invasion force.

The German player deploys first and sets up all of his units anywhere within Pouppeville. He must leave the two US deployment zones clear and maintain a 20cm distance to these zones.
The US player deploys all of his units anywhere on the two table edges marked on the map. Units may be set up in any fashion
and not both deployment zones have to be occupied.
The US automatically win initiative for the first turn.

The ultimate goal of the Americans is to clear the village, whereas the Germans have the conflicting objectives of stopping the American advance and/or evacuate themselves from Pouppeville. Both sides receive Victory Points at the end of the game described in the table below.
The Game lasts for 7 turns.

| Unbroken Unit in 'C' | 3 | 1 |
| Unbroken Unit in 'B' | 2 | 2 |
| Unbroken Unit in 'A' | 1 | 3 |

| Observation tower manned | 2 | - |
You receive victory points for each unbroken unit in one of the zones (A, B, C) at the end of the game; units locked in close combat do account for victory points.
The German command post counts as "conquered" if at the end of the game at least one unbroken paratrooper is within 5cm of the command post.
The Observation Tower is manned if an unbroken German unit occupies it.
