command range

A combat team fights its way through a destroyed town

In contrast to virtually all other games we had played before we did not want to include fixed squads. Instead, all your units should be able to move about the battlefield with relative freedom (i.e. not tied to the coherency of their squad).

We are sure that this allows for more tactical flexibility giving each unit the possibility to fulfill its respective role. What we mean is simply that you will not move a full squad of your men to a certain position just because of the one heavy weapon included.

Additionally, we wanted the command range to be another way to distinguish the different skill ratings from each other. That is why the command range had to be determined by the unit commanded. Now it is possible for a commander to give orders for an Elite unit 15cm away while at the same time a Trained unit has to be in 10cm distance to be commanded.

In our first attempt, we even reduced the Consrcipt's command range to 5cm but had to discover that this made playing Conscript units almost impossible.
